Sabrina Gidda - For PCUK in Memory of Sukey
PCUK CYCLE SQUAD
My Story
In Memory of my incredible Mother Sukey - who we lost to Pancreatic Cancer in October 2021.
Did you know?
- 1 in 4 people diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer die within a month
- Half of people diagnosed die within 3 months
- Only 2% of the annual UK cancer research budget is directed towards pancreatic cancer
- 28 people are diagnosed every day
- 7 in 10 people receive no treatment
- The UK ranks 29 out of 33 globally for 5 year survival rates
- In the 1970s, 1% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survived their disease beyond ten years, it is STILL 1%
- 2 in 3 people do not know the symptoms
What are some of the symptoms?
- New onset diabetes
- Stomach Pain
- Jaundice
- Back Pain
- Changes in Stool
- Loss of apetite
- Indigestion
This is not an exhaustive list - but if you or anyone you love have any of these symptoms, please see your doctor.
On May 28th this year, I will be cycling 100miles with some of my wonderful friends as we take part in Ride 100, cycling from London to Essex and back (hopefully within 7hours)! When I asked my crew if they wanted to cycle 100miles with me they said yes (are we mad?!) and I am so grateful for their support and comittment to this challenge.
We are fundraising for change, for awareness, for earlier diagnosis, for better treatment, for better patient care and in support of the work of our PCUK family. Please help us raise vital funds with whatever you are able to contribute. Large or small - all of your donations are received with much grattitude - please dont forget to tick for gift aid.
Our Cycle Team (What a team! Please feel free to show them some love when you donate and send plenty of encouragement)!
