My Story

On Sunday 28th May 2023 I will be cycling 100 miles around London and Essex in memory of my sister Helen who sadly passed away in March 2022 after a brave two year battle with this awful disease. The date of the ride would have been Helen's 58th birthday.

I would like to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK to help them in their work against this cancer, a type of cancer for which there is currently no cure.

Pancreatic Cancer UK are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people with pancreatic cancer, actively campaigning, and funding vital research to improve future outcomes.

We are facing a pancreatic cancer emergency - too many people are dying. Pancreatic cancer is very difficult to detect and late diagnosis is THE major problem. Around 80% of pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at Stage 4, a point when the disease has already spread to other organs meaning surgery is not an option. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer this is sadly not the case. 50% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months of being diagnosed.

Early diagnosis is key in saving more lives. A research breakthrough is needed and better funding is the best way to achieve this.

I would be very grateful for your support

Thank you.

Haydn
