African Education Foundation

About us

The African Education Foundation helps further the education of children in Africa.

Founded in 2016, its initial mission was to provide the opportunity for education in science throughout South Africa, with potential for rollout to neighbouring countries in the future.

We achieve this through the rejuvenation of classrooms and the supplying of equipment, apparatus and literature needed for the teaching of the basic syllabus, such as mobile pedestals, microscopes, chemicals, Bunsen burners etc.

At the start, the Foundation was focussed on using donations to assist with the funding of science education at the Nhlambanyathi High School in Sodwana Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

More recently the Foundation has helped sponsor several children to attend Umkomaas Pre-school. The aim of this is to help with their basic English and early development skills so that when they attend mainstream Primary school they are able to integrate immediately as they have developed the relevant language and social skills to assist them.

However, during lock-down, funds were used to help renovate and feed children of a local crèche in Sodwana, with the assistance from friends who run a local dive centre Adventuremania.

Adventuremania

Owned by Amanda and Jacques, Adventuremania is a dive operation based in Sodwana Bay. As well as proving a wide range of diving courses, they are proud to include RAID diving courses specifically designed to make scuba diving more accessable to dissabled people.

In addition to Adventuremania, Amanda and Jacques spend their time focussing on the local community in Sodwana by helping to improve the conditions in which children are educated.

African Education Foundation and Adventuremania will collaborate next in a project to build a library at Qondwane Primary School, and fill it with educational material for local children.

The Africa Foundation is a fully legal charity, registered in the United Kingdom, and its main purpose is to act as a reliable conduit for the donating of funds from the United Kingdom directly to their desired source in South Africa.

The Foundation ensures 100% of all donations go towards the projects that are undertaken. No funds are taken in admin costs and all work is voluntary, allowing every penny to be directed where it is needed.
